Disabling plugin does not restore comments

This is most likely because you have a caching plugin installed and you just need to clear its cache.

If you don’t have a caching plugin installed, then try resetting your theme (switch to the default theme and then back to your current theme).

This is actually not the case. Caching doesn’t make a difference. This plugin unchecked “allow comments” for every individual post, and when you disable the plugin, it is not checked again on any post – so comments don’t appear.

So the box “allow comments for this post” is unchecked on thousands of posts and that is why the comments box does not appear after you disable this plugin.

How to fix this? Database query?

Hi @zoomsan. This should only have happened if you checked the “use persistent mode” option on the settings page. In any case, there are some instructions on how you can re-enable comments here.

I agree, I never used persistent mode either but disabling the plugin all my post comments are deactivated. This is a serious problem, I can’t go back to every single post and edit it. ??

update: ok, solved with bulk actions.

Can you be more specific what you mean by solving the problem with “bulk actions”? I’m trying to fix the same problem too, and I also never used “persistent mode.”

Exactly same problem. Never use the Persistent mode and I can’t turn on my comments back. Help us please!

If you can tell me what other plugins are active, and what theme is in use, I will look into it. This problem cannot be reproduced on a clean installation of WordPress so it seems there is a conflict with some other plugin or theme.

MCan someone please help me because i cant re activate my comments! tried everything above and i do have comments checked on all posts but nothing! :/
