    Hi,

I wanted to bring an issue to your attention regarding the recent update to Woocommerce 7.9.0 in conjunction with Woocommerce Subscriptions.

The problem arises when attempting to change a product type from a Simple product to a Variable subscription. In this scenario, the ‘Used for Variation’ checkbox in the attribute settings becomes disabled, preventing the necessary adjustments.

To troubleshoot, I have taken the following steps:

    1. Deactivated other plugins to rule out conflicts.
    2. Changed the theme to verify that it wasn’t theme-related. However, the issue persists even after these measures.

The problem disappears when reverting to the previous version of the Woocommerce plugin.

    Thank you

From what I understand, you’re experiencing a problem when changing a product type from a Simple product to a Variable subscription. The ‘Used for Variation‘ checkbox in the attribute settings becomes disabled, which prevents the necessary adjustments.

This is a known issue that we believe has been fixed in the latest version of WooCommerce Subscriptions, which is 5.3.1. To resolve the issue, please try updating your WooCommerce Subscriptions to version 5.3.1.

Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Go to your WordPress dashboard.
    2. Click on ‘Plugins‘.
    3. Find ‘WooCommerce Subscriptions‘ in your plugin list.
    4. Click on the ‘Update Now‘ button next to it.

This process should ideally resolve the issue. However, if the problem persists, could you send us a copy of your site’s System Status? This will give us a clearer picture of your site’s setup and help us pinpoint the problem. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

Additionally, could you also provide us with the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Once you’ve got that, you can paste them right here in your reply, or use https://pastebin.com/ to paste it there and share it with us.

I appreciate your patience and cooperation in this. I’m eagerly awaiting your response so we can get this sorted out for you.

Yes, it worked with WooCommerce Subscriptions 5.3.1. However, when we updated WooCommerce to 7.9.0, there was no notification about this. As a result, all the variations of the variable subscription product were suddenly removed when we updated a variable subscription product. Consequently, we had to identify the issue and enable ‘Used for variations’ using custom jQuery, as it was a live site.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I’m thrilled to know that your issue got resolved by updating WooCommerce Subscriptions to version 5.3.1. However, I understand your concerns about not receiving any notification when you updated WooCommerce to version 7.9.0.

I’m sorry to hear about the unexpected removal of all variations of the variable subscription product during the update. It must have been quite a hassle, especially since this happened on a live site. While our goal is to provide seamless updates, sometimes unforeseen issues might crop up.

Your feedback is valuable to us. Rest assured, we’ll forward this to our development team to enhance the notification system for future updates.

In the future, I recommend backing up your site before applying updates, especially on a live site. This way, you can quickly revert to the previous state if any issue arises.

I’ll go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. However, if you ever have more questions or issues in the future, don’t hesitate to kick off a new topic.

    Have a fantastic day!
