I have Disable XML-RPC authentication unchecked. I have also installed the Stop XML-RPC Attack plugin.

could I removed savely the Stop XML-RPC Attack plugin with your option Disable XML-RPC authentication unchecked?

two more scheduled scans have run since my lost post, and both have been succesful, the last one today:

`[Mar 24 09:21:41] Examining URLs found in posts we scanned for dangerous websites
[Mar 24 09:21:41] Checking 100000 host keys against Wordfence scanning servers.
[Mar 24 09:21:43] Done host key check.
[Mar 24 09:21:43] Done examining URLs
[Mar 24 09:21:45] Scanning comments with 1000 left to scan.
[Mar 24 09:21:46] Checking 932 host keys against Wordfence scanning servers.
[Mar 24 09:21:47] Done host key check.
[Mar 24 09:21:47] Starting password strength check on 2 users.
[Mar 24 09:22:08] Examining URLs found in the options we scanned for dangerous websites
[Mar 24 09:22:08] Done examining URLs
    [Mar 24 09:22:08] ——————-
[Mar 24 09:22:08] Wordfence used 16 MB of memory for scan. Server peak memory usage was: 18 MB
    [Mar 24 09:22:08] Scan Complete. Scanned 2551 files, 13 plugins, 4 themes, 20926 posts, 1340 comments and 235158 URLs in 12 minutes 5 seconds.`

anyhow, if in case errors show again, is it safe stopping scheduled scans and running a manual scan weekly at hours with low traffic?

Hi @anafasia, thanks so much for your detailed logs and I’m glad to see the scans are largely being successful.

Provided you are running a manual scanning process and are vigilant in doing so, I don’t see a problem with moving forward like that. It could be worth keeping the scheduled scans in place so that if they’re successful, you are alerted immediately of any issues that arise but if they fail, your manual scanning regime will still help keep your site protected.

It might be worth speaking with your host with timestamps of the failed scans to see if there is a logical reason why sometimes failures seem to be occurring due to server load.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    thanks a lot.

now all scheduled scans are completed with success, it seems.
it looks like the issue was solved by itself.
    thanks again for your help.
