Disable webp images and 404 errors

Hi,

If the webp are generated and replaced by LSCWP, then once you disable the webp , and purge the cache , it should not longer service the webp

by 404 , you mean on image links that giving you 404 ?

Yes from external websites, seems like my images where shared with .webp extension, in redirection plugin, when i check the 404 error tab it’s full with links with .webp

Not exactly sure what you mean , what if you set “disable all feature” to “on” ? what do you see ?

i had images links like this: https://www.mywebsite.com/image.jpg.webp
After i disable this feature, my images are now back to original url:
https://www.mywebsite.com/image.jpg

Images where shared to facebook and other social networks with .webp extension
so if someone in facebook see this link:
https://www.mywebsite.com/image.jpg.webp
click on it, he get a 404 error

OK , now I get it.

Add this rule into your .htaccess

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^(.*).jpg.webp  https://domain.com/$1.jpg [R=301,L]

explain: if request contains .jpg.webp , then will send 301 redirect it to .jpg

example

https://domain.com/something.jpg.webp —> 301 redirect —> https://domain.com/something.jpg
