    Hello,

I have created a fixed basket discount coupon that removes 5 pounds from the order total but tax is being calculated on this.

As a result, as much as 6 pounds is being deducted from order total in some cases. Is there a way to prevent tax being calculated on discounts?

    Hi there,

I don’t quite understand the use-case here: Can you elaborate a bit more on how this should work ideally?

Speaking in general though, the tax amount *should* be lower since the underlying value of the cart is *also* lower after a coupon has been added.

So applying the coupon code is meant to remove 5 pounds when the order total is above 45 pounds.

However atm, the code removes more than 5 pounds as tax is added to the 5 pounds.

Is there a way we can communicate privately so I send you the website link/coupon code and you see for yourself?

Unfortunately not, private communication isn’t possible through the public WordPress support forum. If this is an issue that requires logging in though, it might be better to get in touch with a web developer or expert to take a closer look.

    Okay.

    The website is angellpetco.com

You can add this product to cart https://www.angellpetco.com/product/100-pure-scottish-salmon-oil/ (Add 4 quantities so total is above 45) then apply the coupon code 5off.

    Instead of deducting 5 pounds, the coupon deducts 6 pounds (VAT is 20% so 5 * 1.2 = 6)

Thanks! I’ve just tried to access your site and while I did manage to add 4x of that product, the cart page doesn’t seem to be working at the moment:

    Hi @jorpdesigns.

I understand that if you set a coupon that provides a fixed cart discount of £5, the coupon amount is increased by tax amount. This behavior is excepted when Prices entered with tax is set to No, I will enter prices exclusive of tax in WooCommerce >> Settings >> Tax.

The logic behind this is that the coupon amount is entered without tax as well and needs to be adjusted so the total remains the same. You can read more about this from the developers here.
