Disable PayPal Button on Single Product Page

The plugin provides a filter that allows you to disable the single product buttons programmatically: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-paypal-payments/wiki/Actions-and-Filters#disable-smart-buttons-on-the-single-product-page-for-specific-products
This example filter would hide the button for subscription-type products, and also goes a bit further by removing the gateway if such a product is in the cart:
With some minor modifications to the condition, it should also be possible to hide the buttons per product category, but I have no specific example.
