Disable only new comments on an old post?

  • Hi,

    Is it possible to use this plugin to prevent new comment threads on an old post, but allow existing threads to be commented on.

    I’m thinking that as a new post is created, new conversation should move to the new post. However, existing conversations can be carried on against the old posts – for a period of time anyway.

    This plugin doesn’t do automatic closings. It only affects the comments setting on new posts/pages/media/custom post types. Then there’s the option to disable/enable all comments/trackbacks, but it doesn’t give a date filter.

    What you are looking to do can be done with WordPress core. In Settigns > Discussion, there’s an option to automatically close comments on articles older than XX days.

    Thanks for the reply. I don’t want to close the discussion all together – only to new conversations. Replies would still be allowed for a period of X days.

    Yeah, that’s a feature request you’ll have to find through another plugin. I’m really not sure what’s available to do that. Sorry.
