    Hello,

    A great plugin! Thank you.

I have followed your instructions for exclusions, and it works beautifully on the menu links.

But I cannot make it work on pagination links: previous/next/page number. It opens in new tab, which is not right.

I tried to specify the class, but am clearly doing something wrong. Can you help?

    Thank you,

    Vera

Well, the Next / Prev links don’t have a class on your website ?? Only the wrapping <li> element has a class. If you can edit the theme and add a class to those prev/next links that you can whitelist in External Links that should work.

Otherwise you will need to setup a link rule in the PRO version of the plugin to target those links containting /page/ and make them open in the same tab, overwriting the global setting. This forum is only for the free version though so if you have any other questions about that please contact us through the website.

Can you help me with that? I mean, is there a script that I can add to customize this in the theme? I have Code Snippets, so if you could suggest a script I could use that will fix this, I would appreciate that very much.

    Thank you,

    Hi,

A script would not work as WP External Links runs server side. You would need to make the change in the theme’s HTML ??

You should ask the theme’s author if they can add those classes as they can be useful to other users for different purposes as well.

    I see.

Thank you for answering so quickly, both times.

    Alexandru,

I have had a thought: can it be done the other way around?

Can I only open in new tab the internal links for specified class?

    Thank you,

Yes, but all the other links would need to have a class set in that case.

OK, I hope that could work.

What I really want is to have posts open in new tab from archive or home pages. For the internal link – that really is all. How can I do that?

Thank you for your kind assistance.

Unfortunately, unless you can set a class for just those links and then add that class in WP External Links settings there’s not way it can filter them ??

You would have to reach out to the theme developer and ask them for assistance with that.

    Alexandru,

    I understood, you said that.

I was asking for your help. I don’t know if there is or not a class for posts. I see a lot of classes, but don’t understand which one is the right one.

So I was asking if you can help me see whether there IS a class to use, and ponpoint it. Can you please look?

    Thank you,

    Vera

The exception rules only apply to External links. For internal links the rules are all the same ??

So the only way to achieve what you want is to modify the theme and actually add target=”_blank” to the links you want to open in a new tab.

    Alexandru,

I apologize that I am pestering you so. But the theme guy don’t help me do far, so I have to solve it in another way.

I installed a plugin for custom pagination today, that seems to have class. But somehow I am unable to make it work in expeptions, as yet.

Can you pleade have a look at the page and see if there is a class to chose?

I really appreciate your patience with me and assistance.

    Thank you,

    Vera
