Did you set up the plugin from the settings page (Settings -> Disable Comments) after activating it?

Can you share a link to a post where comments are still open?

Also make sure that if you have any caching plugins installed, then the cache is deleted. Also disable any other comment-related plugins to see if there is a conflict somewhere.

I’m not a WP expert by far so not sure what caching plugins are.

I’ve also disabled all comment-related plugins as far as I know as well at all comment related options from the settings menu.

I’m not able to access that link – getting an internal server error on your site.

Once you have it working again, can you try switching to the default theme and seeing whether the comment form still appears? I think it is most likely an issue with your theme. There is a section in the FAQ about this issue.
