Disable Microsoft Payment Request API

Windows 10 user on Edge and with the Creators update have the chance to make use of the payment request API. Unfortunately this seems to scare people away:
– Click the checkout button
– A popup appears asking people to either create a Microsoft account or sign in with a microsoft account
– You don’t have a chance to continue without logging in

Is there a way to disable this API? It confuses people!
