• Hi,

I’m a Joomla user, so I’m just learning the ropes in WP. I’ve been playing around with a site setup. One question that I have which seems to be very basic functionality (at least it should be) is how do I disable a menu without removing or deleting it?

If I have a parent menu, with 10 other menu items below it but I want to hide it for whatever reason as I may need it in the future how do I hide that (better yet, disable it) so that it doesn’t appear on the site but also is still available in the admin menu config just disabled?

    thanks

  • That is easily accomplished with CSS.

    Site link?

    Go to your admin panel

    Appearance>Menu

On theme selection it might have Primary or Secondary menu. And there will be a drop down menu. Just select blank(No name) or create a new menu but don’t put any pages on it. And select the Menu that you’ve created.

    Sorry for bad English. ??

thanks for the responses. I don’t have the site in production right now so I can’t supply a test URL for you to see. I don’t know that css is the best option for hiding these as I’m not always going to be the one doing this so it has to be newbie friendly.

As for the primary or secondary menu setup, I don’t really know what you mean with setting up a blank menu.

Are their no plugins for such a common issue?

    thanks

Create a new menu. But don’t add any pages to link with it. Just create a new menu (any name). And choose the menu that you created.

    Hope you got my point.

    Sil
