When adding code, I’d like to disable the highlighting by default. I can manually tick the box, but I’d like to have it ticked by default.

I think a picture serves this well:

I don’t want any code highlighting, I just want a fancy code block with the options. Otherwise, I’d probably find a way to just make a code block with CSS.

    Again, a picture:

That’s the results when I disable highlighting. That’s what I want as the default. It’d save a few seconds but, more importantly, I always forget to check the box and I end up with a hot mess that requires correction.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi, @uninvolved

I think you can use ‘Show the plain code by default’ option in Dashboard -> Plugins -> Urvanov Syntax Highlighter -> Settings:

No, I tried that. That only shows plain text. But thank you very much for responding. That is appreciated.

I want to have the fancy color and header bit like you see in the pictures. That option just shows the plain code, which isn’t what I’m after.

For some reason, I didn’t get an email notifying me that you’d responded. The option is definitely checked. Ah well… I’ll remember to check manually.

Added new “Highlight code” checkbox in 2.8.34.

Check it in plugin settings below “Show the plain code by default”

    You are awesome!

It works, though I’d add the checkmark to the window you use when adding code – just as a reminder.

Otherwise, it’s awesome and I’m very grateful. Is there some way I can financially support this plugin? I’d throw a donation at this plugin for that type of service.

I should mention that the money.yandex.ru doesn’t work for me. So, I can’t send a donation that way. That’s why I asked if there’s a way to donate or send you a few bucks.

Yes, you are right. money.yandex.ru is an old site. They rebranded it to yoomoney. I have just forgotten to replace the link. I will replace the link with next update. Thank you.

    You can try this one:

    https://yoomoney.ru/to/41001288941320

But actually I don’t sure that it will be any easy ways to transfer money to me from abroad this days ’cause I am in Russia.

Yeah, it doesn’t appear to want to let me send you any money. No matter which card I use, it doesn’t appear to want to process the payment.

I suppose you can’t use PayPal in Russia?

I have a good memory for this sort of stuff. When/if things clear up and I can send you funds, reply here and I’ll get you sorted out. I just want you to be aware that I absolutely appreciate your help, your plugin, and the speed you had with responding.

Sadly, there doesn’t appear to be a way to send you a bit of money to help compensate you for the many, many hours you’ve invested in this plugin.

    I’ll mark this as resolved.

No, I can’t use paypal too. It does not work for us. Don’t worry. This plugin is my pet-project. I use it on my website

What I like best is that this no highlighting was applied retroactively. So, my old blocks of code match the new blocks of code. There’s consistency and no need to revisit those old articles. That’s awesome!

(More people should use this plugin. It’s the best code block plugin in the entire WordPress repository. Trust me, I tried ’em all.)
