disable drop-down location menu fails

    Hello. Please I need help to correct this fail:
    I need users culdn’t create locations, so I unchecked these checkbox in users capabilities. On the other hand, I’ve selected “NO” in the option select location from a drop-down menu, but this instruction is ignored by the system if the first checkbox I talked about is also unchecked, so locations are still shown from a drop-down menu even having this option disabled.

  • It’s either/or. ??
    Either users can create a location, then the Location Form Fields are/can be shown. Or they cannot, and then the dropdown is automatically shown.

    New locations cannot be created or edited though the dropdown – only existing ones can be selected. User capabilities overrule the prefs in the settings.

    What did you want to show them then? Not the dropdown, not the form fields, so no location at all? In that case, you should disable locations to hide the whole section. ??

    I need that users could’t create locations. But I also need that when they are creating an event, could search their location using an autocomplete system instead from a drop-down menu (as is possible when drop-down are disabled), that is because I have a lot of official locations placed in a large territory, and the drop-down menu is not a good solution in this case. Is not possible for me to do that.

    When I’ve selected “NO” in the option “select location from a drop-down menu” is possible that users could search the location in the way that I need: an user writes a part of the location′s name and the system autocompletes it with the name of the locations that have just been created. But if I use this kind of search is also possible to let users to create locations, and that’s what I can`t allow them.

    Again, it’s either/or.

    Showing the form fields will allow search AND create. The dropdown prevents that. If you want to change that, you will need to do that through custom coding.
