• Hi, is there a way to disable direct editing of reusable blocks as it’s part of 5.7? I have a couple of custom themes and my users are really struggling to see that they are actually editing reusable blocks and want the “old” functionality back. Since it allows them an event to add a reusable block into the same reusable block.

Or even disable editing of reusable blocks completely from other posts and I would need to go to the reusable block post?

    Thanks for helping me out.

See if info in this thread points in the right direction:

Hi @t-p thanks, but it doesn’t. I want the user to have the right to edit reusable blocks, I just don’t want to do it “seamlessly” while editing another post (the way it adds a tiny dot to an “update” button) – which was added in the last update and it causes a lot of trouble. Maybe there is a JS filter or so… (but I haven’t found it yet).

    Hi!
I am having the same problem as Karolina; I can’t remove a reusable block from one page without it disappearing from all the pages that it has been used on – I am tearing my hair out! Is there a way of reverting to the old system?

    Dear Karolina,
You may already have tried this but just in case.
I have found a way around the problem although it really isn’t ideal – it might help in the meantime?
If you go into code editor and remove the code for the reusable block, return to visual editor and then update – then it removes the reusable block from that one page but it stays elsewhere on the website.

Hi @hicklingadmin it’s not about removing a reusable block inside another (just try to make sense of the breadcrumb nav in the left bottom corner or use the list view in the editor – I was always able to solve the puzzle) but the problem is that the average users are not able to use the reusable blocks since they do edit it accidentally. I’ve already opened a Github issue here if you want to join: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/32353

It would be really, really nice to disable this buggy in place editing feature. It’s more disturbing than helpful.
