• I have seen other posts on this topic but they seen to be old and unresolved so I am compelled to try again.

I have important incoming comments related to a project and sign-ups on my blog. Am desperate to find out why my “Disable Comments” toggle persists in switching to the “Yes” position, which means that no one can post, or earlier comments disappear.

I switch to the “No” position, ie, do NOT disable comments, and I click Update Post, but again the problem will occur.

Why is there no help for this? PLEASE ADVISE!

  • Try deactivating your plugins to see if any are causing that. IF not, switch to a default theme to see if it’s a theme-specific issue. If that fixes it, reverse your steps one by one to find which one is the problem.

If that doesn’t fix it, please post a link to your site.

Thanks for your comment. Sadly I lack the skills or confidence to try your suggestion. Are certain plug-ins or themes known to cause this?

This is the site: https://www.anesamiller.com …if you can tell anything from there.

Haven’t seen that particular one widely, no. But plugins can do weird things – and there’s really no other way to know which one or fix it besides deactivating them. If the problem goes away once you’ve deactivated them, then reactivate one by one to find the one causing the problem. That process is very standard troubleshooting. I’d start by deactivating JetPack.

Thanks again for you kind attention.
