The option “Disable Chat Server” was removed in the last update, I’d like to use my server for chat not the remote server for privacy reasons.

  • Hi @yward,

Thank you for getting in touch, we do appreciate your time.

Unfortunately, this option is currently being removed from WP Live Chat Support.

This means you will need to make use of our relay servers to accept chats on your website. With that said, it is important to note that we do not store any data externally, and all messages, chats, and events are stored on your WordPress site.

All connections are also fully secured by our external servers.

That is a deal breaker for me.
Aside from the vulnerability scandal, removing the only reason your plugin was more favorable than others (self-hosting) and turning it into a data-mining SaaS is against the FOSS spirit.

Uninstalled and reviewed, good-luck fixing this up!

Edit: your turned reviews off, but will come back for a review when they are back on.

You’re wrong. Author’s can’t turn off reviews here but reviews that cross the line into abuse will get removed for cause.

    Hi @yward,

Our apologies, after raising this concern with the rest of the team, we have decided to restore this option in the next update.

This means you will once again be able to make use of a locally driven server instead of our servers if you prefer this option.

Our sincerest apologies for the unnecessary confusion and frustration caused.

@dylanauty Thank you for taking the concern into consideration! I’ll revise my review for your product after next release.
    Best of luck!

    Hi @yward,

Not a problem at all and our apologies again for the frustration caused earlier.

We have released a new update which restores the ability to use your own server to host the chat.

    I hope this helps?
