I could only show this on one single site as I don’t have the same situation elsewhere. However, I tested quite a lot and think it’s a bug

If you disable the native category prefix in the slug with Yoast, the URL changes from https://mysite.com/category/food to https://mysite.com/food/

However, the issue comes with the translation when using TranslatePress.

Prefix enabled (default): https://mysite.com/en/category/food
Prefix disabled: https://mysite.com/en/food → does not work

Basically, right now I can’t use the feature Hide category prefix in the slug because it’ll break the links when using TranslatePress.

It might be faster for me to try how SEOPress is handling it. The thing is, I am doing almost full-time troubleshooting plugins, so maybe I’ll get into it, maybe not … from what I have seen this will impact all other customers as well and not just me, I think all the information is there to move it into bug tracking

I exactly have the same issue with translatepress and yoast.

See in French

In italian in the menu or breadcrumb

https://www.italpassion.fr/it/categoria/alfa-romeo/

But with manually link it work https://www.italpassion.fr/it/alfa-romeo/

Dont know if the issue is from Yoast or Translatepress.

I am not fully sure if this is the same issue, I never see the categoria in your links as I probably get redirected, I didn’t really check the details

I opened the same topic with TranslatePress as well and they say, they might perhaps at some point in the next year fix it (does not sound so promising yet)
