• Hi all, having a bit of trouble with my wordpress concerning directories. I entered the administration area, and in the options section I changed the ‘wordpress URL’ and ‘blog address’ or something to https://www.silentoutpost.net/blog as opposed to previously ‘www.silentoutpost.net’. Now when I try and access the blog through my browser, I get a 404 error.

Seeing this, I went on my FTP client to check exactly where the files themselves were. All of the wp- files are still in the server index, as if the blog were supposed to display on https://www.silentoutpost.net. I can’t see a /blog directory on the server etiher, and yet I can’t see the blog on https://www.silentoutpost.net, or on the /blog directory on my browser.

I’m guessing it’s a case of the databases being moved, and my not being able to locate them with my FTP client. Can anyone help me get the blog to /blog, or to get the blog visible in any form at all?

    Cheers, Tom.

  • Follow this link to restore the correct values so your blog is accessible again:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

Then follow the instructions in Moving WordPress.

I’ve reset the databases and followed the instructions given in the Moving WordPress article, yet when I visit https://www.silentoutpost.net/blog I only get the post content and none of the theme along with it. The database values all say the right thing, and all the core wordpress files have been moved to the new directory.

    Can you help?

I see the theme just fine.

That’s weird. What browser and OS are you using?

EDIT: I tried viewing it on Camino and Firefox as well as Safari, I can see the theme just fine in Camino and Firefox, however I only get the post content when using Safari.

Can anyone help with this compatability problem?

EDIT AGAIN: Well, after a few refreshes, I can see it on Safari too.

Thanks for your help everyone ??
