Directory Problems

Yesterday I registered my first domain name https://www.example.com with the iPage web hoster. However I am having a problem. When I installed wordpress it said error directory name already in use so I checked a box that said install even if directory is already in use. Now every time I go on my site https://www.example.com the wordpress will not show up. However I uninstalled it and renamed the directory https://www.example.com/home it does show up. I want it on https://www.example.com. Anyone know how to deal with these directory problems?
