The problem was directory /home/camerynmoore/camerynmoore.com is not
empty! Please re-install, specifying an empty (or new) directory.

Please correct this and go to our web panel and re-submit your
    wordpress installation request.

This is the email I get every single time I try to re-install WordPress on DreamHost using advanced 1-click. I’ve followed the tutorial directions and have no freaking idea what to do. I want to rip my hair out.

    Please help.

The database says it’s up and running…..so do I delete the database with the WP “installed” and re-submit an install request with “home2” or something?

    Gah!!!!

  • 1 click install scripts will install to an empty folder.

Make a copy of what you already have in there and save to your desktop, now delete everything and proceed with the installation. Once you are done, upload the saved files back into the directory – becareful not to overwrite wordpress files with similary named files.

I personal don’t recommend 1 click install, they look great in making the install simple but cause a lot of problems later on down the line. I’d say go with a manual install – it is simple with wordpress’ 5 min install guide.

Thank you – I got it working, now I have a 500 error and a mess in the directory bit…..I feel like a firestarter!

Check to see if you have a hiddedn .htaccess file left behind from the previous install. If its there delete it and hopefully that should rectify the problem
