• I changed the index.php permissions to 666, then changed them back and now I get the following error message when I try accessing my blog?

    403 Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/theme-editor.php on this server.

My host said to change all of my folder permissions (wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes & images) to 755.

Now I’m wondering what individual files do I need to change the permissions for and to what number? Like CSS, index, .htacess, etc.

In a normal server setup directories should be 755 and files 644. On the servers where I am hosted these permissions are set on any file/directory by default when I upload them.

Right now my settings are 755 for folders, 644 for files…but I thought I was supposed to change the permissions for the index.php, CSS and .htacess files as well?

I figured out that I didn’t have an .htaccess file. So I created a 1.htaccess file, uploaded it, renamed it .htaccess and changed the permissions to 666.

Now I just tried changing my Permalink structure and I’m still getting the message “You should update your .htaccess now.” Any suggestions?
