Thanks, but I’ve already read that and I’m afraid that it doesn’t answer my question.

That link is about upgrading from 1.2 to 1.5. It makes no mention of 1.5.2 My question is about upgrading from 1.2 to 1.5.2

my apologies, I simply followed the link that said upgrading from 1.2 to newest Version on this
Upgrading_WordPress page. Which led me to believe that upgrading from 1.2 to 1.5.2 was doable.

Which begs the question, is it? Anyone…?

I am not 100% positive, but if I remember well I’ve updated one blog from 1.2.2 to 1.5.1.3. From 1.5 to 1.5.2 there were mainly security upgrades and bug fixes.
Anyway, you are going to backup your database before trying anything, aren’t you? So, if it doesn’t work you can always revert back to the original db and start it over ??

Naturally I’m going to backup my databse, but since I can’t afford to spend loads of time on this or have my site down for ages while experimenting, before doing anything, I really do need a definitive answer, which will also help anyone else with the same question.

The fact that it takes so little time to upgrade anyway, just upgrade to 1.5, and then immediately upgrade to 1.5.2 and be done with it.

My memory tells me that I’ve read a thread in the forums discussing this before ,and going from 1.2 to 1.5.2 was OK, but if the 10 minutes to upgrade via 2 steps isn’t a problem, then just do it.

From 1.2 to 1.5.2 in a single jump should be fine. The minor upgrades from 1.2 to 1.2.2 did not (afaik) alter the database.

Before this though, you MUST get the backup as 1.5.2 WILL alter the database.

    If you follow this guide:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/upgrade/upgrade_en.html
and prepare your files, I cannot see why your site would be down for more than 5 minutes at most.
