  • Hi 03alwi,

This is currently your FAQ direct link: https://www.contentmarketking.com/content-marketing-faq/?Display_FAQ=62

To make it slug based, you’ll need to turn on Pretty permalinks (in Options->Premium) and then set the FAQ Slug Base to “ufaqs”.

So what is this url then https://www.contentmarketking.com/ufaqs/what-is-content-marketing/ – I get it when I go to the faq I created and click on view

    thanks

    Hi alwi,

What page are you seeing the “View” link on?

I just installed the plugin and had the same question.

The URL in question comes from the ability to set the permalink destination to “Individual FAQ Page” in the free version. It then makes the Permalink link go to /ufaqs/question-slug.

So it sounds like option should only be allowed to premium users. OR… let the free users have “ufaqs” as the default pretty permalink, but premium users get to change it to something else. (the latter options seems most fair)

Additionally, when we publish a new FAQ – the system gives it’s usual message:
“Post published. View FAQ” — and the View FAQ goes to the /uFAQs/ url, which is dead.

    Hi cozbaldwin,

It could be just that the custom post type which got added by installing “FAQs” plugin did not get registered correctly or requires a permalinks structure update. For that could you try re-saving your permalinks structure by navigating to the “Settings” -> “Permalinks” section from the WordPress admin sidebar and see if that makes a difference(you do not need to make any changes on that page, just click on “Save” button)?
Also, the link that you mentioned(the one that shows after you add or edit an FAQ) is automatically generated by WordPress, which is /ufaqs/post-slug, since “ufaqs” is the custom post type for “Ultimate FAQs” plugin. The link that you see in the “Permalink” under each FAQ is being set by the plugin according to the version of the plugin you’re running(free/premium).
And for the /ufaqs/faq-slug in the main FAQs page permalinks, did you have the “Premium Trial” activated at any point? It could be that some of the settings did not revert to what should have been set for the “Free” version when the “Premium Trial” expired, which might explain the issue.

Oh! Thanks – resaving the permalinks did the trick!

And no, I didn’t have the premium trial installed.
But now that the permalinks are working with the ufaq directory, I’m all good here. Hopefully that solves the OP’s problem too.

+1 this has solved the problem for me. FAQ page was fine in draft but when I published I got page not found error.

Went to WP Settings -> Permalinks, made no changes but hit Save Changes and this fixed my problem
