Hi. I have the following issue: I am using your plugin throughout my site for file downloads. On Safari all file downloads work properly, however with the Firefox browser some don’t. On my books page (https://highermindart.info/books), file downloads work as expected (using the direct link url), however, both on my Dhamma-talks page (https://highermindart.info/dhamma-talks/) , where I offer MP3s for download, as well as on my videos page (https://highermindart.info/videos/), where I offer mp4s for download, in Firefox, file download does not work. I use php dispatch so that files get downloaded directly. I haven’t yet tried it on other browsers.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

I just completed two test using two different browsers; Firefox and SeaMonkey in my Windows 11 laptop and I was able to download from both URL’s without an issue. So I can confirm that it works for me. Make sure you clear your browser cache then try again.

Let me know how you go.

    Kind regards.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I tried clearing my browser cache, and also using private mode, but in Firefox the issue persists. I tried another browser (Documents app browser), where things also work fine. I am using an iPad, perhaps the issue is with the iOS version of Firefox. Probably the best I can do then, is to hope that not too many people use that browser on iOS devices when opening my website. If you ever hear of similar issues and find a fix for that I would appreciate if you inform me. Thank you

Unfortunately I don’t have an iPad and I don’t use iOS systems :(. I only use Android in my mobile device and Windows in my laptops. But in my Android device I don’t run Firefox browser. I only use Google Chrome.

This could be related to the iOS Firefox version as you mentioned above. Also, are you running the latest version of iOS in your iPad?

    Kind regards.

Does the download work with Safari browser?

With Safari browser and Documents app browser all works fine. So far I only found the issue occurring with the Firefox browser.

    Thanks

Our plugin does not impose any restrictions based on the browser being used, so it should work seamlessly across all modern browsers, including Firefox. However, the issue you’re experiencing with direct downloads not working in Firefox on iOS might be related to how Firefox handles downloads on that particular platform.

Mobile browsers, especially on iOS, sometimes have limitations or different behaviors when handling file downloads compared to their desktop counterparts. This is likely why the downloads are not functioning as expected in Firefox on your iOS device.

This isn’t something we can resolve from our end, as it appears to be an issue with the Firefox browser on iOS. Based on personal experience, the iOS version of Firefox tends to have limitations compared to Safari, especially when it comes to handling downloads.

Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do to change this behavior. The best approach is to advise users to use Safari, the native browser on iOS, for downloading files.
