    Hi,

I would like to add a link on a WooCommerce product but unfortunately I can’t host the product on the server because it’s too big and for that reason I have it on External Drive but when I add the link to the product itself, when I download it I just get a random windows file but not the file itself.
How to manage and what should I do to have the file downloadable but still hosted externally.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey there @szlatarev,

Hosting files externally should work just fine:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/digital-downloadable-product-handling/#section-14

Given that you’re having trouble, it sounds like something might be wrong with the link. Can you please do the following:

    1. Set up a file on your external drive and get the URL
    2. Test if accessing the URL directly through the browser works
    3. Test if the URL works when adding it to a product and purchasing the product

If that doesn’t work, can you please share the URL here so that I can test? You can use any kind of file, but preferably something small and that you don’t mind sharing over the internet.

Also, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    Eventually everything works just fine.
Problem was the link which was not direct link to download file.

    Thank You.

I want to use the url provided from Hi-Drive (very similar structure like Dropbox or Google Drive) but, when I put this link provided on the “FIle url to download” box and click on it, it doesn’t work.

So, how could I use/modify this link to getting work properly inside Woocommerce?

    Thanks in advance !

I think for this you can also use Google Drive and upload the files to it. And then by creating a shared URL, you can easily share them anywhere on the web. But the only downside of these shared URLs is that they open in preview windows instead of downloading directly. But you can also convert them into direct links using some tweaks & tools. Hope this helps. ??
