Using NextGen in a multiside setting and except for the import from folder function it works fine. Since some versions it imports a folder inclusive its subfolders which is problematic if this folder is already imported by another gallery in the network. It tries to import then also the following folders and files:
    – cache
    – dynamic
    – thumbs
    *.*_backup

The result is that it creats the gallery but stops importing the images so that I have to manually rescan for new images in this gallery and also have to get rid of these unwanted files. Best practice whould be, if the importer finds these files and folders, it ignors cache, dynamic and use the already existing files in thumbs and _backup.

    Thanks.

Thanks for your nice suggestion. I will add it to our feature requests’ list.
At the moment NextGen’s importer will import pretty anything from the indicated folder as original images so respectively if you are importing a NextGen gallery folder it will basically add any images from that folder as original images.

That makes me think of this option as designed for a totally separate behavior and purpose since it looks more like a “Import a NextGen Gallery” instead of “Import Folder” as its now.

    Thanks for your replay.

In my opinion this described behaviour is a bug. To clearify this:
    – Upload images via FTP into a nggallery/xyz dir- OK
    – Import with leave files in original folder ‘checked’ for side 1 – OK
    – Named folders and files by NextGen generated. – OK
    – Switching to side 2.
    – Import from nggallery/xyz with leave files in original folder ‘checked’ for side 2 – Not OK.
    – Import starts: Result for side 2: 1 of n images is imported. Manually recheck for new images in folder needed. php error in line 4832 for all new found images but import ok.

    Hello @sidoitsu,

Many thanks again for this amazing feedback, we have added that back to that report made by Mihai.

We truly understand why you asked to add this as a bug report, but our regular protocol indicates that we need to create a new feature request whenever that feature is missing.

The import option at this moment will take all the files inside a folder. It was meant to import photos after users uploaded their files with FTP. That new feature to import folders from other NextGen Gallery folders is indeed interesting, but you at this moment (if you need that of course), you can copy photos from one gallery to another with our bulk options.

    Again, many thanks!

Because it has been a month or more since your last reply, I am going to mark this as resolved as I assume you have found a solution. Please feel free to reply again if you still have questions.

    Thanks!
