Digital Download Alternative

First time setting up something like this – any guidance appreciated! I have a single, “variable” product that is a regular book that is to be sold alongside a digital/downloadable version. The 1st issue I’ve run into seems like it should be an obvious setting, but I’m not finding it. When the user selects the downloadable version, they should no longer see an option to select a quantity or see an amount in stock. Is that possible without trying to add a hacky jQuery/CSS solution? I’m leaning towards chucking WooCommerce altogether because it’s just a single product & far more complex than it needs to be.
