    Is that how it should work? I did set it to weekly digest which works fine. But since the site didn’t see any changed/new posts for several weeks now, the digest from two weeks ago is being resent every week now. I expected it to only send out when there have been changes/new posts since the last send date?

    It’s not cool to have no updates for two weeks on the site, but things like that happen. Still, customers get irritated when they receive the same infos over and over again, exepcially if the infos contained some alert messages that are obsolete by now… ??

  • @bbudeck,

    That’s not how it’s supposed to work, nor is it how it works on my sites either.

    @bbudeck,

    Apologies, I got distracted and did not complete my reply.

    Try resetting the cron event in Subscribe2 by reverting to per-post emails and saving the settings and then change back to your preferred interval. You will lose the ability to send the previous email if you do this until the next email sends.

    @mattyrob,

    thanks for your reply. I did that and it continues to send out mails with really old content (today including a single post daten may 2012).

    I don’t know where to check what might be wrong. We are not excluding any categories. I switched number of recipients per email back to 1 now, it was 0 all the time, but I doubt this is the issue.

    Also I am testing wpMandrill now. Our WP is being hosted inhouse on some of our own Unix servers, admins do have problems providing typical WP functionality like WP update though… I hope problems don’t come from any restructions or server settings I can’t manage.

    You wrote somewhere that the actual hosting server is responsible for processing of the emails (and for resending them sometimes), I hope I can get around that by using the Mandrill API.

    @mattyrob,

    maybe I misunderstand how the plugin works: does it send a weekly digest ALWAYS, regardless if there were new posts or changed posts during the current week? And will it then simply pick older posts as it doesn’t find any newer posts?

    And is this same behaviour intended for pages?

    Actually we don’t use much posts as the site is not a blog. We update/create pages regularly though, and I thought Subscribe2 could be used to send a weekly digest about the new/changed pages of the ongoing week only and not pages that have been created/changed prior to the current week. ??? I’m confused, I just can’t find a reason why it always sends out old stuff (it actually creates a new weekly digest every week, but that one contains old pages in the linklist, pages that haven’t been touched in a months).

    Shouldn’t it omitt a digest completely when no new posts/pages and no updates have been made in the last 7 days?

    best regards
    Boris

    @boris,

    There was an issue in the code relating to ‘Sticky Posts’. In Subscribe2->Settings make sure the option where it says “Include Sticky Posts at the top of all Digest Notifications” is set to no.

    @mattyrob,

    thank you. I just changed it and will wait for the next digest.

    ??

    @boris,

    That bug is present in 9.0 but is fixed for the next version. I’m thinking of releasing 9.1 soon and then working a couple of new features into the next version which I think will be 10.0.
