Difficulty importing posts via XML file

    Switched today to a self-hosted blog, and everything is set up and working fine. Unfortunately, when I upload my XML file, it’s only importing posts from before September 5 of this year. It’s also not importing any tags or categories. It gives me the option to set the posts as by author or admin, and asks if I want to import the attachments, but on the next screen it says my server is dropping the connection. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    It says that the server dropped the connection, and to try again in a few minutes. I’m missing some posts and ALL my tags/categories. HELP please
