• This plugin doesn’t make use of WordPress native things like archives, post types, template parts… This makes the plugin difficult to customize for a WordPress developer, which I think it’s indispensable in a plugin with a lot of features like this.

  • Hello @andreu,

I saw your review come in and wanted to take a moment to thank you for it. The fact that you gave us three stars despite the challenges you came up against is darn kind of you and also shows that you gave some good thought to it before posting. Thanks for that!

I’d like to get a little more clarity from you on this, if you’re willing to share. The Events Calendar does indeed make use of all of the above things you mention. For example, Events are simply registered as a custom post type, which is an extension of WordPress Posts. And, from there, the Calendar itself is a custom post type archive.

Is that different than what you’ve seen or experienced while digging though the plugin’s code or the documentation?

I would certainly agree that customizations are tough if the conditions are the way you’ve noted them, but we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that the plugin is built on the same extensible functions that come straight out of WordPress and that developers like yourself are able to hook into them to customize things as much as possible.

Please do let me know if you are able to share more information with us. Our goal is to make this plugin as easy and extensible as possible and we’re always on the lookout for how to make that happen–and if we can earn more stars from folks like yourself in the process, then that would be an added bonus.

    Thanks,
    Geoff
