    Hi,

I have different categories of products that I review and I would like to use the sidebar widget (“the best … xyz”, “the best … abc”). But it’s not convenient for me to mix all reviews with each other in one single widget. Is there a way to make different widgets for every category? There just seems to be the possibility to filter widgets by review type like star, percent… etc but that’s not what I’m looking for.

    Hi,

Are you trying to list products by a single category or by more than one category? Can you please explain it. ??

    Hi,

    well, that would be by single category I guess: Let’s say I have 3 product-categories A, B and C.

Now I would like to generate 3 review widgets, a widget per category, like “best products from category A”, another widget “best from B”… and so on.

I hope that was explained a bit better ??

    Hi,

There’s already a widget that can do the job. The widget which comes with this plugin has the functionality to list top products by categories. ??

Hi, I’m sorry but I really can’t find that functionality! Neither on widget options nor on wp review options. ?! If I use “top rated” it mixes all categories. I can’t chose a category for that.

(I forgot to say: I have one main category with different sub-categories)

    Hello Greg,

Unfortunately that is not currently possible, I am guessing you’re trying to build a Silo Site structure.
The only way to this would be to create individual widgets for each category then use a plugin such as Widget Logic to select when should a Widget load.
That being said, you’ll need to create widgets for each category and activate only the right one of them using Widget Logic.

    Best regards,

ok thanks, but I haven’t even found the option to assign the widget to a category… ??

    Maybe this will help ??

omg that’s awkward, in so many ways: it seems I posted in the wrong forum. I was referencing wp review, not wp product review plugin ^^

Well, you now know how it can be done with our plugin ??

    (@greggiwestside)

yeah that’s right. I’m testing different ones (yours too), but honestly I’m not 100% happy with one of them. i.e. for wp product review it was the lack of schema.org support.

No, it doesn’t. Check our demo website.

oh ok. is that new? I tested it a few months ago. Then I will give it a shot, again ??

edit: are there other templates? such like simple stars-rating?

    Plugin Contributor MariusG

    (@marius_codeinwp)

No, unfortunately there are several other templates but only for PRO version, but not the usual yellow stars if that’s what you’re looking for.

but not the usual yellow stars if that’s what you’re looking for.

Yeah, that was it ?? Hey, isn’t that a good idea for future releases? ?? I would prefer a simple “five stars” visualisation (that means, 9 points can be 4.5 stars of course) over an exact number or something. That was a thing I liked better in “wp review” I guess.

We’re always open to new ideas, I’ll pass your request to our team and we might add this feature in future updates.
