Hello, I have recently installed this plugin for the first time on my staging site and configured a simple signup form (as a footer widget). Debug logging is on…

When filling out the form, the following error is returned and there is no signup.

“Cannot Have Different Values For ’email_address’, ‘merge_fields.EMAIL’, And ‘merge_fields.MERGE0’. Only One Of These Fields Is Required, Or Their Values Must Be The Same.”

[The following is added to the above message in the debug log]
    “Page: process_form_submission_ajax.php || Type: New Subscriber || Time: May 16, 2018 4:52 pm”

The form has 3 fields: Email, First Name, Last Name (first and last name fields are set to be hidden)
Field sub-settings are all at default…

The add-on: “eu-opt-in-compliance-for-mailchimp” is installed and set to defaults with “Save Checkbox Opt-In as a Merge Field” – “email address”

I cannot find this error replicated in this support forum.

    Please help!
    Chris

    Hi Chris!

This is happening because you chose the Email Address field as your “Save Checkbox Opt-In as a Merge Field.”

The purpose of this dropdown is for you to pick a field to store a value in your MailChimp list that indicates the user opted-in to your list post-GDPR, If you’d like this functionality, you should create a new MERGE field and select it in the dropdown. Do not add this field to your form, simply use it as a place to store a value so you can segment users based on if they gave GDPR consent.

I feel like that was a confusing paragraph so please let me know if you have questions.

    Cheers,
    Kevin.

    Kevin,
Got it! All setup and working now.
My apologies if this was something I missed in the setup instructions somewhere…

Thanks for the ultra quick reply!

    Eagles!!! (you’re in Philly, right?)

    Yes – we’re in Philly – and I’m a huge Eagles fan ??

You didn’t miss any set up instructions; I think it’s confusing. I don’t know how to make it clearer… Maybe we need to add an instructions section. We’ll see how it goes.

    Cheers,
    Kevin.
