• A friend of mine is using wordpress.com and she choose a theme that she really likes. However, I find WP.com to be a bit restrictive when it comes to customization. So I told her I wold host her on my server, install WP and then I can do whatever i want. However, even though I am using the exact same theme, thy are different in their options. The .com version allows me to choose between the dark and lite version. The, lets just say .org version, only comes in white. I have emailed the author, but have not heard back as of yet, so I thought I would ask in here to see if anyone could help.

    Many thanks,
    Houston

You’re correct about the difference between the versions. The nice thing about the .org version is you can edit the css file to make it look however you want. Switching out the color: and background: properties from light to dark; and dark to light would get you there. Example: change background: #fff; to background: #000 would change the background from white to black.
You’ll probably want to work off a copy of the theme on a local server before uploading the changes to the live site.

After quite a bit of effort, I got it there using css and I even had to go into some code since the .org version does not have a place for header image. Must have been a .com mod.

    Thanks for the reply.
