• Hi, I am a new to this advance editing of WP.
So what I am trying to achieve is to include an area on my website for a forum, meaning I have a online magazine with a simple blog theme, but would like to include a talkshop/ forum area with a different theme (bbpress i think)

So can I have different themes on the same site or do I need to link to a different site? Trying to avoid the later one.

    Appreciate any help

  • Have you looked at any of the forum plugins?

what I read up on was that the forum plugins are bulky and slowing down WP.
And what I saw didn’t look as clean and easy to handle as bbpress.

My online magazine is geared for children, and I would like it to be as easy for a child to go online for this as possible.

If I have no other choice I will use a plugin, but I would rather not.

In that case, you’d need to edit a standalone forum’s theme to match (or contrast with) your site’s theme. I’ve run WP sites alongside a standalone forum without any real problems.

Ok, I don’t think I quite understand what you mean

by standalone forum he is referring to using a non wordpress option such as phpbb or vbulletin to name a couple.

from there theming the forum to match your already existing wordpress blog.

thanks I will look into that
