different theme for a website's blog

I was just hired by a company, and am creating a blog for the company’s website. I’m going to run the blog away from the homepage. That’s simple. Create blog page, go to Settings>Reading>Post Pages-blog page. Well, I’d like to include a slider in the blog, but because I have inherited a custom made theme (and I can’t change things to the rest of the website), I’m not sure how to add a slider. Can my blog page have its own theme? What are my options?
