    Hi,

I sell a box which contains different items. This includes food and other products. The tax rate on the food items in this box is a reduced rate and on the other products in the same box it is the standard rate. This box I sell for €39,95, but only €19,95 is a reduced rate of 9% and the other €20 is the standard rate of 21%.

Is there a plugin or a way to set this up?

    Hi @lfctom,

    Thank you for reaching out.

You can set up two separate tax classes in your WooCommerce settings, one for the reduced rate items and one for the standard rate items. Then assign these tax classes to the appropriate products in your box.

For the reduced rate items, set the tax rate to 9% and for the standard rate items, set the tax rate to 21%. When you add these items to your box (which could be set up as a grouped product), WooCommerce will automatically calculate the correct tax based on the tax classes assigned to each item.

As for a plugin, you can try the Role Based Tax for WooCommerce premium plugin, which offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply, but that’s not going to work. The product isn’t a grouped product. It is a simple product. It is a box that I’m selling which contains food and non-food products. The box is the product, not all the individual products.

    Hey, @lfctom!

Do you mind clarifying for us how do you need this to work so we can assist you further?

You want a plugin that will show on the order details the separate tax prices?

Or is there any other specific way you need this to be set up?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

I sell a box which with a price of €39,95 incl all taxes. This box contains food and non-food products, so the box contains two seperate tax rates.

The food products in the box cost €19,95 incl 9% TAX.

The non-food products cost €20,- incl 21% TAX. Together this is €39,95 which the customer has to pay.

So the sub-total should show a reduced tax rate of 9% over €19,95 and a standard rate of 21% over €20,-.

    Hey, @lfctom!

By default, it is not possible to do this.

If you have a simple product, the tax is added to the price of the product as a whole. Is not possible to add different taxes to parts of the price on a simple product.

As my colleague mentioned, to do that by default, you would need this to be a grouped product.

You might also want to check Product Bundles.

If you want to keep it as a simple product you would need either a third-party plugin to edit this information to the order details, or custom code.

While we can’t provide support for code customization as per our support policy, we do our best to offer advice and direct you to appropriate resources.

You can visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there too.

As for a custom plugin, we don’t currently have a suggestion for a plugin that could do this.

You can search on the Plugins > Add New section of your dashboard or on a search engine like Google, for example.

Please note that we also do not provide support for third-party plugins, so it is good to check the plugin thoroughly to see if it is reliable. You can find more about this in this guide.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!
