Different Notifications By Category

    Looks like the last poster had a similar question to mine, but since mine’s a little different, I thought I’d post anyway….

    I run a large site with hundreds of contributors. We have several different types of content and each different type has its own category. What I’ve been trying to code myself, and what it looks like you’re heading towards, is a way to send my contributors notifications alerting them when their post is scheduled or published… and have those notifications provide different information (like suggested tweets) depending on the category the post is in. (This additional information and variation is why I’m not just using something like Peter’s Collaboration Emails)

    Do you see Better Notifications heading this direction? And when? I’m struggling to code this myself and would love a plugin that’s robust enough to make this a reality…

    Thanks for your message.

    Something we’ve learned from building this plugin is that everyone has a different scenario that they’d like to use it in and the problem we’re having is trying to make it flexible enough so that it fits most requirements.

    Currently, a lot of people have asked for the ability to send notifications for single categories. The next version of the plugin (hopefully launching towards the end of the year) will bring it out of beta and completely change the layout to make it much easier to add and remove notifications and add a bunch of new functionality, some suggested via the forums, some from our own roadmap. Due to the complexity of sending notifications for specific categories, this will not be included in this update however, we will certainly look at add it in the first quarter of next year (2014). We also hope to add in a larger range of options with regards to choosing post status (WordPress goes through quite a few before actually publishing something).

    I know this doesn’t directly answer your question but hopefully it will give you a little insight as to where the plugin is going.

    We think it’ll be useful too, we’re just trying to find the time to work on it at the mo in between lots of clients work. It’s very much a priority for us though.

    Hopefully you’ll see an update shortly ??
