Different login link for contributors

  • I have a news and analysis blog and I want to add other contributors to the blog who would have separate registered account on the blog.

    I have changed default wp-admin login link to something else.
    If i add other users to my blog then I have to reveal my secret admin url login link so that they may log in into the blog using the login form.

    Is it possible that i create a contributor accounts for other users with some other login link so that the admin login link remains separate, for security reasons. ?

  • Even if you have different URLs/links for the login page, they would all login to the same exact system, so that’s not really a good way of securing stuff, I’d say.

    I’m not sure what you’re trying to do though. Do you want some users to be able to log in to the system but NOT able to see/edit the blog posts? Or do they only need to be able to see their own blog posts and not those of others?

    I am adding blog contributors so that they can login and write articles on my blog and I as an admin can approve those posts later to be displayed on the blog. But i dont want to give them the wp-admin url which I have changed which I use to login into the site as admin.
    I found one plugin that may help is there a better alternative or this is the best plugin out there ?

    I have no experience with that plugin, but as I said before — no matter what the wp-admin URLs would be, they would end up in the same admin area anyway.

    For example, let’s say you log in at https://www.mysite.com/secret-admin and they would log in at https://www.mysite.com/public-admin

    It doesn’t matter which of those URLs you (or anyone) would use to log in; you end up on the exact same page. My point is, having a secret URL is just that: secret door but all lead to the same room anyway.

    Apologies if I still misunderstand the issue.
