• I’m facing this issue and I haven’t managed to find a solution.

Polylang is working fine, I need but to have the language name display differently according to the language the user is viewing the website. Let me give an example:

if the user is viewing the website in english than the name displayed (next to the flag) in the language switch is english. But if the user is viewing the page in Italian then the name displayed in the language switcher for english should be inglese.

How I made my point clear! Any help would be appreciated.

Let me explain why your wish makes no sense:
If somebody comes along your Italian website and he/she would like to switch the language the user regular can not speak Italian. So, if you name your language “inglese” instead of “English” how should the visitor, who doesn’t speak Italian, know that inglese means English?
So, the way to provide the language is to display the name in the corresponding language. Means Italiano, English, Deutsch, Espa?ol, Fran?ais and so on. The goal is, everybody finds the name of his/her language in the desired language.
