    Hello,

In my website, I have so far only header & footer because it’s still under construction and I’m testing stuff.

I realized what this plugin does it’s not switch the header and footer completely for the one corresponding to the selected language. Instead it only change elements that are contained into the header & footer for elements that have a corresponding equivalent on the other language configured in polylang, for example, menus.

The problem with that is that I want to put my logo on header and have the hyperlink on it to redirect the user to my homepage of the selected language. According to what I tested, this isn’t possible. The hyperlink on the image will obey only the default language definitions in elementor. And that is so for various other elementor objects that can’t be configured in polylang, like social network menus.

I would like to know if this is really a limitation of the plugin or if I’m doing something wrong. If it is indeed a limitation of the plugin, I would suggest a future update in which there is an option for the complete replacement of the header & footer, instead of the elements cointained on it.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @darkcss

I am a little confused. But let me try and put it in layman’s terms and see if I got this correct.

1: I can build 2 absolutely different headers per lang and have that header display accordingly. Example. White for english and black for portuguese. So effectively, it replaces the entire template per language.

2: The website logo, I see now, if clicked takes you back to the home page in the default language. I will see what can be done to take the user back to the homepage that is currently being browsed. ie; default is PT but user is in EN. Logo click should be defaulted to take the user to the EN home page.

3: in terms of menus. In WP, you can create your menu structures. You would need at least 1 menu per language. But whatever menus you do decide to create, always do the translated menus. Elementor should pull through the menus that you want. Provided you have specified the language of the template you are working in.

4: I have noticed on occasion that Elementor sometimes likes to display the alternative language that you have on the site when you have different tabs open in different languages. I have not had a chance to look into this myself. However, I have noticed, for example, if I am working on a 4 language site and opened all 4 versions of the pages, then Elementor likes to display the 1st tabs language data. (I would have to create a video to better explain this issue). But what I found was that editing 1 template at a time seems to be ideal. However, even if you edit all the different languages at the same time, the correct language still pulls through.

    Hi, p4fbradjohnson,

Thanks for the fast answer. Basically, what you said in item 1:

1: I can build 2 absolutely different headers per lang and have that header display accordingly. Example. White for english and black for portuguese. So effectively, it replaces the entire template per language.

Does not work for me. If I put default language header white and secondary black the secondary header will still be white. So is it something I’m doing wrong?

DO you have a local test site to play with?

Make sure you have set your default language.

make sure your URL structure is set to /language, as in site.com/en or site.com/pt

Polylangs first (default) option DOES NOT WORK for Elementor.

On the local site, create a header template in Default Lang. (En – for example). (In black (if you want) and create English title)

Publish as site wide. Exit from elementor pro.

Now you are back in WP. Click on the + sign to create alternative language template.

Change everything you want. (Make it obvious)

Publish. DO NOT CHANGE SITE WIDE or change any display conditions whatsoever.

    Test on the front end.

    Hi p4fbradjohnson,

    Thanks again for fast answer.

I tried exactly that on the site, that at the moment is my sandbox for this kind of test, and now only the english header shows… it’s a weird bug, and I have no idea what’s causing it.

Today I am on my laptop. Hence the fast answers ??

Have you heard of Loom? Its some screen recorder software (free).

if you don’t mind creating a loom video. You can show me your Polylang settings. As well as the headers you created. Then show me the front page’s.

Alternatively I would need to team view onto your machine (which I like to avoid).

    Problem 1.

Not all content is set to default language.

    Problem 2.

Languages must be set from the directory name in pretty permalinks. Not from different domains.

    Thanks a million!

Selecting “The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks” and “Keep /language/ in pretty permalinks” resolved the issue!
