Different Header per category basis

I have a wordpress blog that i want to have a different header for different 1 category. I have 3 questions:

1. In order to have a different header for per category does the blog category need to be a post or page?

2. What code do I use to change the header and colors of the images?

3. Where does the code go so I can apply it?
