    Hi everyone.
I have 3 sites hosted on the same server with Avada theme. One on the public_html and the other 2 in subfolders.
All 3 sites show my standard 404 for errors, however, if within the wp-content folder, in any url or folder, the 404 is different, just a text only big 404:

    404
    Not Found
The resource requested could not be found on this server!

    For example, aaa.com/test – my 404
For example, aaa.com/wp-content/test, aaa.com/wp-content/uploads/test – the different text only 404

I disabled the plugin and noticed the 404 error was displaying correctly, the same page standard page for any url.

Furthermore, I use a plugin called redirection, which I disabled for part of the test. When enabled, the plugin shows me the urls the users tried to access not within the wp-content folder only.

For example, the plugin will show: aaa.com/asd, aaa.com/test
The plugin will not show aaa.com/wp-content/test, aaa.com/wp-content/uploads/test

The .htaccess inside the wp-content, uploads and uploads-webpc don’t have a setting showing that they direct to a separate 404.

    Any ideas?

    Hi @riseagainst,

    Thank you for your message.

It looks like your website configuration is custom. I have not encountered this type of problem yet, nor have any of the plugin users had this type of problem.

Unfortunately, I am not able to help you in this matter. I am not able to change the rules generated in .htaccess files by the plugin, as it would be a problem for other users.

Thank you for the reply @mateuszgbiorczyk although, I’m not sure you followed what I said there.
It only happens when the plugin is active, and I only mentioned the .htaccess to say that I didn’t see any redirections to a custom 404 url.
Also, somebody has to be the first one with an issue…

@riseagainst Please activate Pass Thru mode on all your sites. Then the content of .htaccess files generated by the plugin will be cleared. Did this solve your problem?

That does solve the issue, the correct 404 is displayed on all sites.

It seems the pass through changes the url, is that correct? Is that why this setting is not recommended? How are things affected? I couldn’t find info.

Also, it shows a nochache=1 and the end of the URL, what’s this?

    (@mateuszgbiorczyk)

@riseagainst Yes, this mode modifies URLs and does not use redirects from .htaccess file. nochache=1 is needed for some web hosts to keep everything running smoothly.

Yes, so that would not work. If you are interested in gaining access to investigate the issue, let me know how we can contact one another.
    Thank you.

    @riseagainst What should I check?
