  • A broken link is a link that doesn’t work (e.g. one that returns “404 Not Found”).

    A removed link is a link that has been deleted using the “unlink” function that’s available on the “Broken Links” page. What “unlink” does is remove the HTML code of the link but leave its anchor text intact. For example, if you have “click here” link pointing to Wikipedia, unlinking it will leave just the plain text “click here” in the post. It will no longer be a link. If you like, you can then highlight or mark that left-over text somehow to indicate that it was once a link.
