I just sent my first newsletter using SendGrid, and I notice that its statistics are totally different from MailPoet’s. MailPoet shows 21.1% opened and 11.3% clicked. SendGrid says 76.80% opened, and 16.00% clicked. Even if I drill down to “unique” in SendGrid, it says 27.60% unique opens and 12.40% unique clicks. Any idea why the statistics are different?

  • MailPoet stats needs to be redone, we recognize that there are some inconsistencies on the way we calculate those. Sorry about that.

No problem! I just started using SendGrid (after years of using my own server’s mail function), and am trying to figure out all the features. Their total opens seems to be a bit weird, as it divides the total number of opens (even if the same person opens the e-mail multiple times) with the total number of e-mails sent. That seems to me a rather meaningless figure. But the unique opens and unique clicks are helpful.
