• When I go into the images in the Library, I’ve noticed that the image’s URL can be different than the permalink. I guess this is where I’m confused about permalinks, specifically for images. How can the “File URL” be different from the “permalink”?

Forgive me if this has been answered before… just trying to understand this part of WordPress better.

    Thanks in advance.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

“Permalinks are the permanent URLs to your individual weblog posts, as well as categories and other lists of weblog postings. A permalink is what another weblogger will use to link to your article (or section), or how you might send a link to your story in an e-mail message. The URL to each post should be permanent, and never change — hence permalink.”

When you upload an image in WordPress, either in a post or directly to the media library, WordPress will also create a special media post that can be used to display it.

The permalink is the URL for that media post, whilst the File URL is the URL for the actual image file.

I think that makes sense ??
