It is never required to connect a Business Profile. A Business Profile is required only for a few specific features, which is a limitation set by the Facebook/Instagram API that we connect to, to create the feed. You can connect any kind of Instagram account using the ‘Personal’ connection, even a Business account. If you have a separate login for the account you want to connect, you would instead log out of Instagram and log in using that information during connection, selecting the Personal connection type. If the account uses the same login – and you have a ‘Single login’ setup for both accounts, unfortunately you must separate these accounts from the single login, so that it can be accessed separately. To do this, please follow the directions provided by official Instagram documentation here. This process is called ‘removing’ the account from a single login, but just allows you to log in with the username and the same directly.
Another thing to do note is that a full Business Profile, requiring a Facebook Page, can be connected to any Facebook page at all – as an example, you could create a new page with nothing else and set that up as your Instagram Business profile page – just to be able to connect to the Business API. This is not displayed anywhere in your feed. This is not something that we wish to make complicated – and is simply a requirement from the API to access certain information.
