did WP remove "Category" from the url?

i have mot permalink structure as
/%category%/%postname%/

and when im viewing a post, i see all category names in the url, parent cats and sub cats.

so on category is /products/
i also made a page called products which seems to over ride the category page which was some archive.

This is actually what i was hoping it would do cause i have no use for category pages or archives.

my question is, is this some kind of error and should i be concerned?

because from what i recall, if i did NOT have the products Page, the cat page would have been .com/category/products/
