• I recently added WPTOUCH to my site for a supposedly well-regarded free mobile plugin. I don’t use mobile sites very often for my own surfing, so I don’t really know the impact it has had or how well-received it is. However, I did notice a 40% drop in traffic since I put it in.

Might this be because my site went mobile and stats aren’t collected this way, or is it just that the mobile site is bad and visitors don’t like it? Like I said, I really don’t know anything about mobile sites and hardly ever use them, so I’m really just throwing darts in the dark.

    Any help or ideas?

    Thanks for your time.

Yes…review with the service used…if a device does not recognize a site with a mobile setup it can strew results as noted…

Using wptouch should not in any way lead to drop in traffic.
What software do you use for checking your website traffic ? have you checked the traffic from other stats software, like using Jetpack.

I have used Jetpack exclusively. I just now installed Google Analytics in my theme’s GA field, as well as in WPTouch’s field. I guess I should wait a little bit?

Tourq — Did this happen to coincide with the latest WP upgrade? 3.5.1. We had the same dramatic traffic drop about that time and can’t figure out why, although we didn’t implement a mobile theme. Maybe the mobile theme breaks something else. I’ll look into that and let you know if I find any link there.

Thanks. I upgraded to 3.5.1 earlier. I think I’ll turn off the mobile theme for a week to see if that is it.
