I lost the top-level domain name under which my hosting account was held, and had to change it. I had a WordPress blog installed in a separate domain that was linked to a subdomain in my hosting account. Before my hosting company re-named my top-level domain, I backed up everything within my FTP directory.

Now I’m trying to restore the posts on the original blog. Can I just upload all the files from the original subdomain? When I do this I get database errors. Help, please. Anyone with any ideas? Do I need to start from scratch with a new installation?

  • As long as you have any uploaded data from your upload directory and you have your original database, then you could upload a fresh copy of the source code and connect to the same database…shouldn’t be a problem. You may need to upgrade if your source files are newer and, or course, you will need to reinstall any custom themes and plugins.

I have wordpress set up under godaddy hosting. I received a word press message to update 2.3.2 zip. I unzipped and than ftp’d to wordpress on godady hosting. I ftp to the top level folder. when visiting my blog I get____Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_header() in /home/content/b/l/o/blogherbalife/html/index.php on line 2 this error-

I backed up the blog before starting this. What is the best way to reverse this? Thanks in advanced.
