• Hello all,

I am realtively new to WordPress and this is my first time posting here, so please bear with me.

I am interested in designing a wordpress website offline, while the current standard html website is running (it’s for a restaurant, so they need to keep thier website running while we design the wordpress site).

My question is: is there a way to create the wordpress website offline while the existing site is running? Thanks in advance!

    Regards,

    KJ

  • Yes you can install a Wamp on windows or a Mamp on Mac server on your computer and install wordpress and work as if you are working online.

    Kenneth,

Is this a commercial paid job? If it is, you need to setup a live server so the client can see the progress as well.

@govpatel: Thanks, I’ll look into this.
@shirazdrum: it’s not paid, it’s for a friend. I have some slight experience with WP on my own blog site, but I’ve never built a WP site to overwrite an existing html site.

As govpatel mentioned, for local testing and development WAMP is your best friend. I’m assuming you have a website of your own, and if you do, setup the WordPress network and then you’ll be able to show off your work live as well without needing a domain.
